Thanks for Saying Hi as an EP is many things. First and foremost, it is a triumphant collection of new songs written by Hart and performed with her backing band featuring Kate Ryan of the band FLOWN on drums and Adrienne Lloyd of Hunter Valentine notoriety on bass. It is a game of country mouse and city mouse, as both love letter to New York City with twinges of post punk as well as a deep bow to her Southern upbringing with heart on sleeve echoing of country melodies. It is a queer and feminist reclamation of space in both art and music with photography by notable artist Elizabeth Orr and paintings by Amy Sillman. Lastly, Hart seems to revel in her songwriting serving as both the author of critique and a proclamation of love and heartbreak.
